Heckert Counseling primarily utilizes evidence-based practices (EBPs) that have been proven by research to be effective in addressing behavioral and mental health conditions. We will work with you to identify the best course of treatment and will discuss alternatives to treatment in the event that an EBP is not the best or preferred treatment option for you.
Consultation
We offer and require a 20-minute consultation with all potential clients prior to our mutual agreement to work together in a therapeutic relationship. This consultation is offered at no cost. Failure to attend this required consultation without advance notice to reschedule will result in declination to schedule an intake assessment and move forward with the therapeutic process. In such situations, referrals may be provided at the request of the individual for alternative providers in the area.
Individual Psychotherapy
We will facilitate individual treatment based on your identified goals for counseling. We will provide education to you regarding the various treatment options available and will ensure that you are making the most informed decision about your counseling experience. We provide the following EBPs:
Group Therapy
In the event that we have enough clients who are eligible for a particular group, we are willing to facilitate this service. If you are interested in group counseling, please discuss this in further detail with us.

Family Therapy

Referral Services
I will provide referrals for additional or alternative services upon request or as warranted based on clinical judgment. This may include referrals for medication evaluation/management, substance use treatment, medical/dental, other health needs, or any other social services. In the event that I am not the best provider for you, I am more than willing to provide a referral to an alternative therapist/counselor in the Bellingham area.
